Furthermore, KIIT has been awarded the Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), which underscores its significant contributions to global education and social development.

In a landmark partnership, KIIT University and the have joined forces to create transformative learning opportunities for young leaders and changemakers. With KIIT’s extensive experience in higher education and social development and UNSSC’s expertise in training and capacity-building for global governance, this collaboration is poised to become a model of academic excellence, policy engagement, and leadership development. 

 

A Partnership Rooted in Leadership and Social Change 

The partnership between KIIT and UNSSC will focus on a range of academic and leadership development initiatives, with the Nelson Mandela Project for Social Change, an initiative incubated by UNSSC. This project aims to nurture young leaders and social change-makers by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and ethical frameworks to address pressing societal issues.  Beyond the Nelson Mandela Project, the KIIT-UNSSC collaboration will focus on several other initiatives designed to strengthen education, leadership, and social impact at the KIIT School of Public Policy.

Key elements of the partnership include:

  • Establishing a Nelson Mandela regional hub at KIIT University: This hub will serve as a center for leadership training, policy dialogues, and research on social transformation, catering to young leaders across South Asia.
  • Leadership development programs: Tailored executive training modules will be co-designed by KIIT and UNSSC, focusing on governance, sustainability, and leadership.
  • Collaborative research & knowledge exchange: Joint research projects will explore critical issues such as climate resilience, gender equality, and global governance, fostering deeper engagement between academia and international organizations.
  • Public engagement & capacity-building: Through conferences, roundtables, and expert dialogues, the partnership will amplify discussions on global challenges, bridging policy and practice.
  • Internship & exchange programs: Students and faculty members will gain exposure to international best practices through immersive learning opportunities, fostering cross-cultural collaboration.
